was trepadacious about eating out in the cemetry complex known as Albemarle Square. not much there to commend. so, on the worst weather night in recent memory ventured out with a friend from Taiwan. the night was spitting icy water shards. needed warmth quick. got: pot of jasmine tea, burbling clay pot of pork ribs and dofu, spicy calamari, fried honeyed duck, beef and tripe salad. portions huge, service muy rapido, very satisfying. need return trip but always go with someone who speaks Mandarin at least. you get the skinny faster. there was an abundance of caucasians there ravenously devouring their food with looks of contentment mixed with slurping sounds. one downer - lousy rice. how's this possible from a culture based onb this one staple? dunno, but small glitch in otherwise delicious experience. yes, it's real Virginia, so do go.
