Dr. Ho must have gotten his degree from the University of Damn That’s Good! The pizzeria is about a 15-minute drive south from downtown Charlottesville and well worth the trip. Although it’s easy to drive by the exterior, the inside feels homey with a dash of hippie. The menu has a good selection of beer and any kind of pizza ingredients you could want, plus other assorted apps, salads, and pasta.
It’s tempting to save all stomach room for the pizza, but go ahead and get a salad with the ranch dressing. I have no idea what their secret is, but the ranch dressing is perhaps the best I’ve had: fresh, slightly peppery, delicious.
The Humble Pie is their specialty: pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Each slice is loaded up with goodies but maintains a wonderful balance. The meat never overpowers and the crust remains crunchy and hearty. Best of all, you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. In an area with lots of good pizza, this is top two for me.
